Having stayed at Colin and Wendy's Lossiemouth cottage we were quietly confident that the Burghead cottage would not disappoint and it certainly did not - everything (including the weather) was perfect and we found the accommodation ideal for our needs. We are however now faced with a dilemma for our next trip to Morayshire - Lossiemouth or Burghead??

Fabulous cottage, well modernised and laid out. It was kind of the owners Wendy and Colin to leave a welcome pack which meant that after a seven hour drive we did not have to look far for a drink and a meal on arrival, thank you. For me it was a homecoming as I had lived in Burghead as a small boy and still have relatives here who I tracked down and visited, my wife who has never been here was enchanted at the the quite, clean streets and lovely locals, all of whom made her feel welcome. Biggest regret was that it took me 45 years to come back to spend some time but now I have come back I will return shortly and will definately look to stay at this cottage, you never know they might even consider selling it to me!! Thank you from Hamish and Lorraine Cole.

Burghead Cottage is extremely well laid out. Two large bedrooms, lots of storage space, a large bathroom with shower, a lounge, a dining room with sofas off the kitchen and an enclosed garden. The owners left a welcome pack consisting of wine, bread, bacon, butter and sweets which were very much appreciated. It is in a brilliant location to explore the surrounding countryside – Inverness, Fraserburgh, Aberdeen, Lossimouth, Elgin, even Perth. Burghead itself is quiet. There is a well-stocked local shop on Grant Street that is open till late. We spent a good day wandering around the harbour, and along the beach. We tried to dolphin spot from the Visitor Centre above the harbour but unfortunately the dolphins were too shy to make an appearance. There is also a forest walk at the entrance to the village itself. I can't remember the name of the pub that does take aways near the front and just down the road from the shop - we never ordered any food from there but the owners were really nice and we had a few drinks there. Lossiemouth is close by and we can recommend it for restaurants and take aways. There is a walk up to the lighthouse and the Beach Café I can recommend – it has an outside decking area so a great place to sit and watch the sea waiting for those shy dolphins to make an appearance. The Indian take away/restaurant on High Street served brilliant food and there was also a Pizza place, and a Chinese restaurant. There was also a nice front (East Beach) that looked out over a green that we sat and had a coffee and sandwich outside. Can highly recommend staying at Burghead Cottage and if ever we head up that way again we will definitely be staying there again. There was more than enough room to accommodate two adults, two children and a large dog.

A very warm and comfortable cottage. We had excellent weather for the whole week and took full advantage of the extensive range of walks and activities in the area. I t was a delight to return for a second year running. We will be back soon we hope.

We have just returned from a lovely break over easter at Burghead. We have family near by in Forres and it was the perfect location for us to be. The cottage is furnished well and is home from home with all the appliances and equipment. The village itself is picturesque and full of things to do and explore with its pictish history. There are plenty of places to visit within a short distance. It doesn't matter where you had spent the day nothing matched coming home to the warm cosy cottage.
